Adriana Salgado-Santiago
Adriana Salgado-Santiago has been promoted to Managing Director of Impact at City Year Milwaukee.
Adriana Salgado-Santiago is a proud Milwaukee native and MPS graduate dedicated to creating opportunities for Milwaukee’s young people to thrive. For the past three years, Adriana has served as an Impact Director for City Year Milwaukee overseeing the implementation of service in four of our thirteen partner schools. During that time, she led on Returning AmeriCorps Member recruitment and the implementation of The Search Institute’s Developmental Relationships framework in our service to students. In 2017, Adriana was awarded the Jason M. Holton City Year Milwaukee Alumni Leadership Award. Adriana was raised in City Year having served as a Regional Recruitment Manager for City Year, Inc., and an AmeriCorps Member (’12) and Team Leader (’13) at CYMKE. She has a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a M.A. in Social Impact from Claremont Lincoln University.
While Adriana is incredibly honored be a Badger and to have contributed to City Year Milwaukee’s legacy and the Milwaukee community through her work, she is most by humbled by being a mother of two little humans, Adonis and Cataleya.
Ysel Nicholson
We are thrilled to share that Ysel Nicholson has been promoted to Community Partnerships Manager. Ysel’s service background positions her to be a great asset to the recruitment team. Her prior experience is with Public Allies, as an English Teacher in Colombia, and Communication Specialist.
Ysel is from West Allis and received her BA in Communication from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
Laura G. Perez
Laura Perez has rejoined our team as the Senior Director of Community Partnerships. Laura G. Perez was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and identifies as a Mexican & Irish American womxn and mother. She earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies, Child Development emphasis, and a Certificate in Chicanx and Latinx Studies from UW-Madison. Laura served as a Senior Corps Member with City Year Milwaukee from 2010-2012. Over the next decade she served in many capacities in the education realm in Milwaukee: an educator at Milwaukee College Prep, a Talent Specialist at Seton Catholic Schools, a campaign manager for two school board races and returning to City Year Milwaukee as a Special Projects Manager and then Local Recruitment Manager. She is coming to us after being a 6th & 7th grade Math Teacher at Milwaukee College Prep the past two years. Beyond work, Laura is a proud mamá to her 1-year-old daughter, Sovereign Pérez-Moore and serves on the board of Casa Romero Renewal Center.
