1. Free dental and vision care

AmeriCorps Members are already covered with medical insurance, but we want to make sure they stay fresh all year long. We’re proud to offer free, F-R-E-E, free dental and vision services to our Corps. Setup your annual exam, x-rays, and cleaning with just a quick call to our partner dentist. And the KC Free Eye Clinic is located just blocks away from the City Year office and includes an eye exam and new glasses, free of charge. Time to shine, y’all!

2. Free YMCA membership

We know that everyone needs a way to shake off some stress, do some self-care, or be active. The North Kansas City YMCA might be your new favorite place. All of our AmeriCorps Members are eligible for a free membership, which is valued at $43/month, during their year of service. This location is just 10 minutes from downtown and is a brand new facility — it has classes, rows of equipment, an indoor pool, and dozens of other amenities. The YMCA always provides a welcoming, non-judgmental environment for all of their members. You can’t afford to NOT check it out!

3. Expanded mental health services

Working in schools can be emotionally taxing, and we know that good mental health plays an integral role in our work with students. To ensure that our AmeriCorps members have the support they need, we’ve partnered with Great Circle and TalkSpace to offer counseling sessions, workshops, and online therapy options at no cost to our Corps.

4. Free Museum at Prairie Fire membership

Located in Overland Park, the Museum at Prairie Fire (MAP) partners with the American Museum of Natural History to offer dynamic science, culture, art and natural history exhibitions. As part of the City Year Kansas City team, AmeriCorps members receive a complimentary museum membership with free, unlimited access to exhibitions, program discounts, and more.

5. Discounts at local businesses

Kansas City is a tight-knit community, and we partner with our friends around town to offer exclusive discounts just for AmeriCorps members. Drink coffee? Love tacos? We’ve got you covered.

6. Free ticket opportunities

We’re passionate about a few things in KC: education, sports, art, and barbecue. City Year Kansas City works with organizations around town–like our Central Middle School Team Sponsor, the Kansas City Chiefs–to secure free tickets to sporting events, concerts, museums, and art galleries.
