College scholarships for City Year AmeriCorps
If you’re a high school graduate looking to apply to undergraduate colleges and universities after serving a gap year with City Year, look no further! Through City Year University Partnerships, you’ll find several exclusive scholarships and discounts to educational institutions across the country.
Here are five universities that recognize the power and impact of your service by helping you to further your education:
Cambridge College
Located in Boston, Massachusetts, Cambridge College’s curriculum is designed for working adults. So, if you want or need to continue to work after your service is over and still pursue your undergraduate education, consider applying to one of their two scholarships:
The first scholarship—the Give a Year Scholarship—offers a 25% tuition discount for up to five City Year corps, alums or staff members. This scholarship is renewable for up to six-years.
The second scholarship—the City Year Service Scholarship—offers a 10% tuition discount and is available to all admitted City Year AmeriCorps, alum or staff members who did not receive the Give a Year Scholarship. It is also renewable for up to six years.
St. Mary’s University
Saint Mary’s University is the oldest Catholic institution in the southwestern United States and is located in San Antonio, Texas. It is committed to academic excellence by integrating liberal arts studies, professional preparation, and ethical commitment. They partner with City Year to offer up to four scholarships annually, with a 75% tuition discount.
Scholarships are renewable for up to four years for City Year alums with at least one year of service are eligible for consideration.
Georgetown University, School of Continuing Studies
Continue your education in the nation’s capital by applying to Georgetown University, School of Continuing Studies! The program emphasizes self-reflection, critical thinking and a commitment to community service. It is designed for students with busy lives, offering full-time and part-time options and evening courses.
Each year, the school offers one City Year alum a 25% annual tuition discount. However, all other admitted City Year alums receive a 15% yearly tuition scholarship.
Kent State University
City Year partners with the College of Education, Health and Human Services at Kent State University to offer 25% tuition scholarships for up to two City Year alums. As one of the nation’s top public research institutions, Kent State offers a wide variety of programs, ranging from education, public health, counseling and more!
This scholarship is renewable for one additional year as long as the recipient maintains a 2.5 GPA. Applicants will also be considered for other merit-based aid.
Louisiana State University (LSU)
Louisiana State University, the flagship university for Louisiana, was the first to formalize a City Year University Partnership in 2011. Enriched by the natural and cultural history of Baton Rouge, the university aims to confront the twenty-first century’s most pressing environmental, social, economic, scientific, creative and educational challenges.
This leading public research institution offers an application fee waiver for undergraduates.
