Valero Intern School Supply Drive
Valero Intern Supply Drive
Valero has a robust internship program that offers professional and personal development to its interns and we are so grateful that two of our schools were the beneficiaries of their National Intern Day Celebration!
Katharine Underwood, Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition & University Relations oversaw Valero’s National Intern Day Breakfast, and Delaney Wilburn, Community Investment & Engagement Summer Intern, coordinated a school supply drive. The supplies were donated to Margil Elementary and Lanier High School. Our AmeriCorps teams serving at these schools are sponsored by Valero Energy.
City Year’s Community Partnerships Manager, Barbie Leal-Hallam, worked with the Valero team to identify 6 critical school supplies that would serve both the elementary and high school level students. As part of the breakfast, Valero interns were asked to bring any of the six supplies as a donation to Margil and Lanier. Approximately 90 interns filled eight large boxes with essential school supplies! This gift will give students at Margil Elementary and Lanier High School the tools they need to have a successful year! Thank you, Valero, for being a valued partner of City Year and for putting students’ needs first!
