Welcome 2020-21 AmeriCorps Members
In July, City Year San Antonio will welcome a new incoming class of 90 young people for the 2020-21 service year. We are thrilled to welcome back 23 corps members who will be serving a second City Year with us. This year’s Basic Training Academy (BTA) will be conducted virtually, creating a new experience for all. Like past BTAs, the two-week training will establish a strong foundation from which this year’s AmeriCorps members will support our partner schools, teachers and students.
Virtual training content will include opportunities for the incoming Corps to experience City Year’s culture and values, as well as training on engaging students through an equity lens both in the classroom and in a virtual setting. Corps members will learn about the San Antonio community, our focus on the whole child, academic intervention and tutoring techniques and social-emotional skill building strategies.
We are thrilled to welcome the 2020-21 Corps, who are fired up to support students and schools in the wake of uncertainty and learning loss from the pandemic. Now, more than ever, City Year is needed in and out of the classroom and this Corps will be prepared and ready to lead with empathy as we collectively work toward educational equity and serve our students and community with love. Listen to the words of advice 2019-20 AmeriCorps members shared in the below video.
Congratulations to our incoming 2020-21 AmeriCorps members! Thank you for choosing to serve a City Year – we look forward to the change you will bring to our community.
